“Swimsafe” is a completely different experience from most of the canine pools available in the UK. This is a large pool where dogs learn to swim naturally, not against a current.

One of the immediate aims is to build the dog’s confidence so that he swims efficiently, expending energy in the activity rather than in undue anxiety.

We want him to use the muscles he would be using in normal walking and begin to extend joint function to overcome stiffness: to achieve this we try to minimise the fear and maximise the fun!

Each dog is individual so different methods may be used according to the reactions of the dog, the size, and of course, the medical condition, if there is one.
